My journey with Christ has been a transformative odyssey, illuminated by His grace at every turn. The gospel's light has guided me, brighter with each step, as I ascend towards my divine calling in Jesus Christ.

Born in October 1978 in Banana, a serene suburb of Nairobi, Kenya, I was nurtured in a devout Christian family. My father, a dedicated pastor within the Message of the Hour, and my mother, a steadfast believer now rested in Christ, laid the spiritual foundation that would shape my path. Their guidance was my compass, directing me towards the Lord’s way.

Yet, true readiness for God’s service beckons a personal encounter with Him. For me, this pivotal moment unfolded on August 22, 1999, during a youth retreat in Nairobi. Baptized amidst the powerful echoes of the Message "I Have Returned," I experienced a profound spiritual awakening. This retreat marked my leap of faith, from the confines of the familiar into the vastness of God's grace, akin to the prodigal son's joyous return to his father's embrace. That day, the transformative power of Christ became my reality, a testament I would carry forward to the world.

Blessed with a loving partner, Peace Ibale, we united in marriage in December 2008. Our union was further graced with the birth of our son, Danny Obadiah Mbugua, a precious life we've dedicated to God, nurturing him in the Word's wisdom.

Serving the Bride of Christ has been an inherent calling, a purpose woven into my life's fabric from childhood. This service, an honor beyond measure, is a testament to a life dedicated to the Kingdom's work. As an office manager with the Voice of God Recordings, I am humbled to contribute to our divine mission, inspired by the vision of storing up spiritual nourishment for the times of need. My commitment is unwavering: to labor in the harvest fields, bringing souls to salvation. The time for this work is now, and it is here where I find my greatest joy and purpose.

In this journey of faith, my heart's desire is to continue growing in grace, from glory to glory, embodying the transformative power of Christ in service to His Kingdom. As we await the return of the King of kings, my resolve is to work tirelessly, ensuring that the light of the gospel reaches every corner of East Africa.

The Work in Southeast Africa took shape in the mid 80’s when Brother Joseph established the first lending library in Nairobi Kenya. Due to the Translation work and Distribution Work, the number of established churches and believers have increased drastically over the years.

TRANSLATION WORK

When the work took shape in the mid 80’s, the Swahili translation of the Message was one of the very first to take place almost 30 years ago when in April of 1987, the first Swahili books were printed.

An estimated 200 million people throughout Central and Southeast Africa speak the Swahili language with 17 million of them come from Kenya alone. It serves as the official language of three nations: Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda; along with being the national language of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Swahili dialect can be found in many different parts of Africa, ranging from southern Sudan, the Comoro Islands, the northern part of Malagasy Republic, and is used as far north as the Persian Gulf states. After Arabic, Kiswahili is the most widely understood language in Africa.

A large part of the success here in Kenya is due to the efforts of special dedicated brothers by the names of Alfred Opiyo, Barnabas Kariuki and Arnold Msuya of Tanzania. Another very special brother that we pay tribute to is Brother George Mbwana from Tanzania. He meticulously proofed every Swahili translation from when he joined the team in in 1986 until the Lord called him Home on April 6, 2015. He was certainly a Holy Ghost filled example of a man. Although much of these brothers’ work is behind the scenes, they are taking part in the most important task of translating the spoken Word so that our Swahili speaking brothers and sisters will have something to feast upon.

DISTRIBUTION WORK

In the realm of spiritual outreach and technology, the Voice of God Recordings missionary office in Nairobi, Kenya has witnessed remarkable progress since the "Vision for Africa" video was made back in the mid ‘80s. The journey from printed books, cassette tapes, MP3 CDs, SD cards, and now the Agapao Tablet, reflect the evolution of technology in spreading the gospel across Africa. Brother Joseph’s vision of providing every Bride of Christ with recordings of God’s prophet, Brother William Marrion Branham, has been propelled by these technological advancements, overcoming numerous challenges along the way.

Over the past 39 years,

• VGR has so far distributed 9.978 Agapao Tablets to 523 churches within Kenya in 22 counties and expected to finish the job with the expected shipment of 6000 more Agapao Tablets coming soon.
• VGR has distributed over 200,000 books to the churches in Kenya.
• Also has distributed over 2,158 Swahili SD Cards to over 120 churches and expect to finish the job with the expected 15,000 SD cards.
• Voice Of God Recordings has also distributed Message books and other donations to various prisons in Kenya.
