The discussion of religion came up between the employees I work with recently. I honestly never cared too much what they talked about, but this time, it peaked my interest. After all, the group of them ranged from agnostic to Mormon and atheist to Buddhist. "I used to believe in God," said the atheist, "but honestly, how can you prove the existence of something like that?" "Well," answered the Mormon, "I was just born and raised the way I am, you know?" The conversation continued and several of them looked my way. I knew what would be coming and I was unafraid.
"Isaiah," said the Buddhist, "You never talk any. What do you believe in?" Without as much of a hesitation as I gathered the breath, I spoke with my shoulders back and chin up. "Everything in the King James Bible. Everything." A pause began as they looked at one another with puzzled and humored stares. I was sure they were wondering how someone could still believe in 'everything' that the Bible had to offer, especially the KJV. But then, out of the back, walked a boy about two years older than myself. He had no faith to my knowledge, but seemed to be quite entertained by my answer to the question. "So you're telling me," said the boy, "You believe that God parted the Red Sea for Moses?" "Exactly how it's put in the Scripture," I replied.
A few of the other employees shook their head and chuckled as if it were a joke. I was not backing down. "You believe," the boy continued, "that the water was turned to wine?" "Yes!" I said, wondering where this was actually going. Again, the others simply laughed to themselves. "You're saying you have personally seen God?" the boy asked me. "Absolutely, without a doubt in my mind," I answered. "Met and talked with Him?" "I have and I cannot be told different." Silence filled the working area with the exception of whispering and giggles.
I was curious as to what the boy had to say now after I answered his questions to the best of my abilities. But he simply smiled and pointed a finger at me, speaking one sentence that will stick with me always. "THAT is what I call faith." He then proceeded back to the place he'd come from while the others continued with their tasks. This situation truly made me realize the importance of maintaining a strong stance within the Message. It shows that even if others refuse to see God's Word the way we do, you'll still have those that recognize that there's something real and special within us. It is our job to let our Light shine regardless of the persecution we may face.
I pray that this testimony encourages you in your Christian walk. May the Lord Bless you.
