Letters From Prisoners

The prison ministry is going strong here at VGR and, like always, the mailbag is once again full. Here are a few excerpts from some of the recent letters.

Two weeks ago, I got a chance to stop by the visiting room, which was also used for religious events. I found a book, ‘My Life Story’ with the title in Korean; I brought it and started reading it. I also used to use a oil lamplight when I was young (like Brother Branham) and words in ‘My Life Story’ touched my mind, thus I brought nine other books and read them as well. His words seem to keep spreading, as I have seen his sermons made into a book in the Korean language.

GA

I loved the book, ‘My Life Story,’ so much, but felt it was too short. The sermons in the other nine books were also great.

What was the life of Brother Branham like?

GA

Mr. Branham

I can’t go on the way I am, I have got to change. I am serving life and I am at the end of my rope. I know what I did was wrong, but inside I have to change. We have a discussion group here to help us to get in touch with reality. I talked to one leader and told him how it is life or death with me. He said if I was serious, then I should contact you. He said that you have helped many and he was one of them. Sir, I know nothing about the Bible or church. Will you please help me?

AR

Please allow me to express my gratitude for these inspired messages of Brother Branham. They have saved my soul.

TX

I told the chaplain that I am tired of my life. I have been looking everywhere for a little peace and to find my way back home. He gave me a preprinted label with your address, and told me to write for some books. He warned me to be prepared. Now I am curious.

TX

It is such a blessing to receive these sermons by the prophet of God. Keep pressing on.

Dear Mr. Branham

I have just finished reading your book The Eleventh Commandment, but I know nothing about the Bible or religion except my Granny was a little religious. I can say that if someone was to ask me, I would have to say that you are truly a man from God. I have never experienced anything like this little book, it moved me, and it moved my soul, which I thought was long dead. Sir, I am asking for your prayers and help, if you have other books would you please send me some. See, I am serving a life sentence, and I really need something to hang on to. Thank you with all my heart.

GA

One of the guys here asked me for one of the books you guys sent me. He brought it back and said, "That’s something else, do you believe all of that?" I had to think for a while before answering, finally I said, "Well I don’t understand hardly any of it, but I believe this, if it’s in that book and came from Brother Branham then it’s the God’s Truth and I believe every Word." So I guess I believe all of that.

AZ

We thank God every day for your ministry; Brother Branham is the only one with the Truth of God’s Word. Thank you!

CA

I have no way of thanking you enough for the books. I thank God for all of you, and for sending Brother Branham into this dark and forgotten world.

CO

There are so many churches and so many rules about how to live. I finally got tired of trying to understand it all, and asked the Chaplain which is right. He said, "This is what you do, write these people and ask for the COD books." That’s all he would tell me, so I am asking.

I don’t know how much you all know about being in prison, but for some, it’s no different than outside. See, I got here at 17 and I am now 32. In here you go day-by-day stealing and dealing what you can and you get caught and go to the hole. Get out and start over again, back and forth. Well, one trip to the hole and the guard jammed a Bible in my gut right before he slammed the door; so I sat and read. Next time I asked for a Bible, and the next, etc. Finally, I was looking forward to the hole and it came to me, if I read outside maybe I would not be in the hole. Well, I did and I started enjoying the stories and thinking of God. I asked the Chaplain about guidance, he said, “You have it right there.” I said, "But you know, help me." He said, "It’s on the last page." I looked and the last page had your address on it. Please Mr. Branham help me get to know about God.

After Chapel I was telling another inmate how good it was, he said, "Oh, there’s better." I asked what he meant. He said, "Do you read the Bible, do you study the Word, do you know the prophet?" I said, “What?” He said, "It’s like this, I can tell you all about apple pie, how sweat, how tart, crispy crust." Again, "What?" He said, “The pie sounded really good, but until you dive in yourself, you have no idea!” He said, "Wait here." He went to his room and came back with a book called Ages of the Church. That was a month ago and I’ll tell you Chapel is nice, but this Apple Pie is a lot better, I’m loving it.
