“That great monster laying up yonder, that flipped hisself over in Alaska, a few days ago, threw its tail up again this morning, along about, down around in Washington. He could head this way, mighty easy. And if the Holy Spirit ever tells me definitely...”

He did not finish that sentence, but 87 minutes later, just before the close of the service, Brother Branham made a startling prophetic proclamation concerning Los Angeles that we believe will come to pass, just as he spoke it:
“That is solemn warning. We don’t know what time, and you don’t know what time, that this city one day is going to be laying out here in the bottom of this ocean.
‘Oh, Capernaum,’ said Jesus, ‘thou who exalted into heaven, will be brought down into hell. For, if the mighty works had been done in Sodom and Gomorrah, it’d have been standing to this day.’ And Sodom, Gomorrah lays in the bottom of the Dead Sea. And Capernaum is in the bottom of the sea.
Thou city, who claims to be the city of the Angels, who has exalted yourself into heaven, and sent all the dirty, filthy things of fashions and things, till even the foreign countries come here to pick up our filth and send it away, to your fine churches and steeples, and so forth, the way you do. Remember, one day you’ll be laying in the bottom of the sea, your great honeycomb under you right now. The wrath of God is belching right beneath you. How much longer He will hold this sandbar hanging out over that? When, that ocean out yonder, a mile deep, will slide in there, plumb back to the Salton Sea. It'll be worse than the last day of Pompeii. Repent, Los Angeles.
Repent, the rest of you, and turn to God. The hour of His wrath is upon the earth. Flee while there's time to flee, and come into Christ.”

Six months later, Brother Branham was hunting in Colorado with some brothers from California. It was the first night of the hunt, and he was talking to them about how sin had traveled from the east to the west, as had the Gospel. All of a sudden, he looked directly at them and said, “You brothers that live in California, get out of there as quick as you can.” Many did, moving to Arizona. Over the years some of their descendants moved to Jeffersonville and are now working at Voice Of God Recordings—because their parents and grandparents believed the Word of the Lord.
That prophesy was not the first time Brother Branham spoke of God’s judgment on Los Angeles. Fourteen years earlier, on May 2, 1951, he spoke this warning at Calvary Temple in Los Angeles:
“Right here is probably where judgment will strike. And that’s right. Let’s get ready. My, this will probably be the first place it’ll be hit, right in here.”

Brother Branham also warned New York City and England:
“And now, tonight here in this great mammoth city where the wealth of the world almost lays, towering buildings like great canyons, as you walk through the streets. But someday, up through the…we’ll see the Son of God walk out there and say, ‘Time shall be no more.’ Then the earthquake, and there won’t be one stone left upon another. Oh, to think, Lord, that we’ll go home, then it’s all over, that glorious event.”
“I think that England would be sunk someday beneath the ocean; it deserves it. Filth, dirt, puny... That’s the immoral cesspool of the world, the most Scriptural denying people I ever seen in my life. She’s become that, because she’s rejected the Truth.”

As the Lord Jesus also neared the end of His earthly ministry, he spoke to His disciples, saying:
“Nation shall rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.”
We are seeing these things come to pass. On Tuesday afternoon, January 12th, in the worst earthquake in 200 years, an earthquake 7.0 in magnitude, struck Haiti, taking the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. At 3:34 a.m. on Saturday, February 27th, an 8.8 earthquake struck Chile, with an estimated death toll of over 700.
To bring it a step closer for those living in the U.S. and Canada, this second map identifies the states and provinces that have experienced earthquakes since January, 2000.
“We see the earthquakes again breaking up the earth, in divers places, and men’s heart failing, fear, perplexed of native, and distressed, and nations. And we’re—we’re just at the end time. We think of the great earthquake the other day, and never was one like it; only, nineteen hundred years ago, on another Good Friday, when Jesus had been rejected by the world, the earth shook all over. God, He is rejected, again. The earth shook, the other day, and hills and mountains fell in, cities collapsed, and water dashed in the air, and the whole world felt it. What will it be when You return, Lord? No wonder, ‘They cry to the rocks and the mountains.’
Let us be ready for that great going-Home time, Father. Grant every request, for we ask it in Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
