They arrive here in Jeffersonville every year about this time, driving over 600 miles through the night to spend two days working in the mud, rain, wind, and even snow. It’s not a vacation with their families to see all the sights and visit with the locals, but two days of cleaning up downed trees, pressure washing walls, shoveling, scrubbing the roof, and whatever else the job calls for. Why would someone do this? They do it because they love the Bride of Christ.
The brothers from Pennsylvania and Arkansas leave their work Thursday night, and after 10 hours of driving, they arrive Friday morning ready to give all they have to do their part for the Bride. Joining with a few locals here in Jeffersonville, the weekend is dedicated to making the grounds look just right. And when the work is done, with their backs aching, their muscles sore, and bodies tired; the weekend ends just in time for the long trip back home to be ready for their work week to start on Monday.
But like all things in God’s Great Machine, there is a need, and God has provided someone to fill that need.
On behalf of all the believers that will visit VGR in the coming months: THANK YOU, our faithful friends, for making such a sacrifice once again this year. You are a blessing to us all.
But how different it is with Jesus. You don't have to be in "Who's Who." You don't have to have your name on some great book of some sort. No matter who you are, Jesus sees you, and He knows every little act that we do. Every little thing that you do for Him, every little move that you make, He keeps it on His book. He knows all of us, whether we are important in this world or not important. We're all important to His kingdom, whether we are rich, poor, or indifferent.
