Guyana Missionary Report Continued

Continued from yesterday’s article titled, “Guyana Missionary Report,” where Brother Gideon Dickson visited a few communities in Guyana and was pleasantly surprised.

YOUNG FOUNDATION QUIZZES

The YF quizzes have been a real blessing in Toka. Sometimes as much as 80 young people take the quiz. The unusual thing about this is that virtually all the children from the village want to be a part of it. Many of them are now coming to Sunday School, despite the fact that their parents don’t attend the services.

The timing of the packages was perfect for the time of the Jubilee. Now the believers have easy access to all the Messages that Brother Branham preached, with MP3 players and power 24/7.

Another strange thing is that three-year and four-year olds from families that don’t regularly attend services are submitting quizzes. This seems puzzling at first, because how could these young children listen to the Message, do their quizzes, and get 100%? This sort of cleared up when I saw a young mother (not a regular attendant or even a baptized believer) feverishly writing out the quiz by hand to take it home and do it with her four-year old daughter. The parents are being influenced by the YF quizzes to listen to God’s Voice!

Pearl, a young sister, decided to really make a change in her life in this season. When she went to school last term, she decided that she would no longer be a partaker and ringleader in the worldly activities at school, but rather use her influence for God. She invited a few of her friends to do the quizzes with her, and the results were amazing. Other students going about their regular activities would be like, “What are you guys doing?” and want to be a part of it. Now there are 23 students from school to be registered with YF, so that they can get their certificates and badges for the revival month quizzes! God works so simply!

Something of interest is the way the quiz is done. First, a couple of young brothers on a motorcycle get to a spot where they can get internet access, armed with a fully-charged laptop. Then they download the quiz (along with any other new article from the VGR and YF sites) and ride back to Toka after using some of their scarce cash to buy gasoline for trip. They then print the quizzes on a home printer (they were using red and blue ink, as the black ink was used up), distribute the quizzes, and collect the quizzes at a prearranged date. Finally they ride back to the internet (place of connection) and submit each quiz individually on the sometimes-unreliable internet.

Imagine how hectic this schedule is for them during Revival Month, especially when the submitting of the quizzes can sometimes take more than one day. And these brothers have to take time in between all of this to make a living (hunting, fishing, farming, etc.). And they do not miss a single Jubilee Message.

It’s not really hard to see God’s blessing, as the Brother Branham said the following:

“When there's no sacrifice, there's not very much to the service. You have to really get down and do something that hurts real bad, have to lay aside some things and stop the work, and do this or that to get to go to church and show God that you love Him, and you make a sacrifice to go; it's then when you get something out of it."

JUBILEE

Brother Litho, a young brother very much involved in the YF quiz program, works in another village. One evening he was riding to Toka to listen to a Jubilee Message when his motorcycle cut off. He got off (along with his two passengers), and he started to troubleshoot the bike – current, spark plug, etc. He couldn’t find the problem. But in his heart he was just praying, “Lord, I don’t want to miss this Message. I was so happy to be coming to listen to it, to be a part, and if this bike doesn’t start I would miss the service. Lord, you know my heart; I really want to be there for the Jubilee Message.”

Then he checked the gasoline tank. Empty. He got up on the bike, kicked, and it started. He loaded up his passengers, and they rode to the service with an empty tank.

At the end of the year, there was a testimony meeting and it was refreshing to see some of the young people really give God thanks for the Jubilee Messages, and tearfully express their joy at the announcement that the Jubilee Messages would continue into 2014.

God bless you brothers and sisters, and strengthen you all for the work He has called you to. Your work is not in vain.

Your brother in Christ,

Gideon
