The country of Guyana is geographically located on the Caribbean coast in the Northeast portion of South America. Of the 800,000 that live in Guyana, 57% are Christian, 28% are Hindu, and 7% are Muslim, with the remainder being of non-religious affiliation.

The local climate is tropical and generally hot and humid. Guyana has one of the largest unspoiled rainforests in South America, some parts of which are almost inaccessible by humans. Yet, as we all know, there is no place that is not accessible for the Word of the Lord.

Thanks to dedicated missionaries like, Brother Felix Dickson and Brother Kye Smith, from the country of Trinidad, the Message of the hour is spreading throughout the coasts and inlands of Guyana. Because of efforts like this along with VGR representative, Desmond Ross, new churches are taking form, new converts being born into the kingdom, and the Message of Malachi 4:5 is taking hold; but this effort is not without a price. The roads are difficult and the waterways are dangerous, but there is a deep calling and as the prophet of God taught us, there has to be a deep to respond.

During this seven-week missionary trip into the jungle, the brothers took us along via a video camera to the towns of Bonasika Creek, Toka, and Moruca. We will take part in the arrival and distribution of the Message material in the coastal region, and enjoy some personal testimonies from some of our brothers and sisters in the areas they visit.

Seven week missionary trip to Guyana, consisted of the following:

The trips were basically routine, with the exception of the last one. It was infinitely special, starting with a vague invitation and culminating with the establishment of a fellowship, including 13 newly baptized believers at Moruca.

We had a special time of fellowship here to encourage the believers to continue in the faith, and make full use of the Jubilee quizzes and testimonies. We were able to pass out some of the Cub Corner magazines and microSD cards; these were well received. The four-day tape service climaxed with the altar full of the believers rededicating their hearts, bodies, and souls to the service of the Lord. It was a great time of revival and refreshing for the believers.

1. The arrival of Message material into the country during our time here and there was a concentrated effort to clear this material through customs. By God’s grace, this was accomplished, Bro. Desmond Ross being used by God to play a major role in this process.

3. We received an invitation to a remote Amerindian village in Moruca, from a resident on the East Coast.

1. It was interesting to observe the believers have continued to make use of the sermons. In fact, advances have been made in getting access to the website in this very remote area, namely through smart phone technology. Also a computer station has been set up in the village, funded by the government, and awaiting internet connection. This will make access to the websites much easier, and therefore, they will have access to all the sermons.

2. Distribution of the material sent from VGR was made, namely two mobile speakers with iPods, pictures, tracts and books. Some of the material destined for further south, to Rupunau.

The trail to Toka was in very bad condition, due to the rainy season. It took 24 hours of almost non-stop driving to cover the 300 miles. The return was a bit worse, with a few breakdowns on the way.

During a breakdown on the way out, we had an impromptu service. It started with my testimony, and the atmosphere was so receptive that it began to get more evangelical. A young soldier off duty was particularly touched, and really expressed his desire to serve God. He even took off the earrings that he was wearing, and gratefully accepted some tracts.

I spoke to a young lady from Finland, and found out that she was bound for Trinidad after some bad luck in South America. She then said that my testimony was very interesting, and when I mentioned about the dead boy being raised in Finland, she said, “William Branham, from America? I know him. My parents have lots of books from him at home.” I was surprised, for two reasons: one, she, obvious from her dressing, wasn’t a believer, and secondly, it seemed so unlikely that someone touring South America from Finland would have any knowledge of the Message. Probably she is fleeing the Message, only to encounter it once again when she was at a low point. She accepted some books, and promised to find out more on the websites.

Three separate visits were made to Moruca, each a few days long.

FIRST VISIT:

The Message introduced in various services, tapes, books, and tracts given out to be used in their own time. Four persons expressing desire to be baptized.

SECOND VISIT:

Baptismal services done with 14 baptized. Building works started to make services more comfortable, with a site for a permanent building proposed. It was encouraging to know that a small group of interested people gathered to listen to the tapes four times in the last week during our absence.

THIRD VISIT:

Song MP3’s delivered to believers. Building works started on permanent site. Persecution of believers began, incensed by denominational leaders. Suddenly the village is flooded with revivals and singers etc. to “compete” during this soul-searching time in the village.

Quacy - This young man expressed a strong desire to have a micro SD card with a phone to play the Message with. The next day he went into the village with the Message playing in his pocket. Two elderly Catholic women heard it playing, and told him that his pocket was sounding nice. He took out the phone and they listened to it for two hours. They then pleaded with him to leave the phone with them, which he reluctantly refused, but promised to help them if he could.

Errol - Two weeks before the Message came to the village, Errol, the Area Councilor for the village, was helped into a hammock. He was too drunk to get there himself, but he knew he had to change his lifestyle. He told his wife that someone from outside, from the States, would come and establish a church, and this is the church that he would go to. In fact, he was telling that to his wife for the past few years. He wouldn’t go to the local churches, because he couldn’t see God there. Everyone was puzzled, but two weeks later he was a changed man.

Arnold- A family member of a believer, his eyes are finally opened to this Message. Now he hardly believes it when his daughter says that he fiercely persecuted her for following this Message. His wife and other children are against him now, but he is unmovable. He finally has got a hold of something that is worth suffering, or even dying for.

This trip seemed really precious to me, because the hand of the Lord was working from beginning to the end. It was certainly nothing we could have planned.

Since returning back home, we were able to make contact with these three brothers (there is good cell phone communication in the village), who all said that they continue to have some wonderful tape services, with new visitors each time.
