From Darkness To Light

Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence. When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up. In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.

Psalm 94:17-19

Miraculously, the Message of the hour somehow continues to find its way into dark places and into the hands of the predestinated. With your help, we continue to make sure prisoners, as this brother, have something that no prison wall can conceal. For many, it's the only Light they have ever known.

I’m 56 years old and should be released next year.

I deeply felt to thank you for your ministry to us black sheep here behind bars. Sometimes we are a product of our environment.

My parents were drunks, and we would run for our lives when dad got on a bender. If dad could grab you, he would beat you. Mother finally ran off and left me alone with dad. I kept running away and they kept bringing me back. One day at seventeen I had enough, I snatched a purse from a lady and got caught. For 60 days I had it really nice: warm bed, food and no beatings, a fellow could enjoy this.

So, for the rest of my life I was in and out of jails. Then I had this dream; bright light I could not see into, kind of moving. Something said, “Only believe, there is a better way, friend.”

Well, the guard woke me, and said I must have been having a nightmare. I went to the chaplain and he listened. He finally said it was probably just a nightmare.

I told a few guys, then one guy asked if I heard of “Melchisedec?” I asked if he is an inmate here, he just smiled and handed me a book telling who he is.

Well the book started out, “Only Believe.” Right there, it caught my attention and made me sit up. Then I read his life story, and to think I had it rough? Yeah, Right.

Well it just went from there. There sure is a better way than the one I had.

Brothers you cannot imagine what it is like to suddenly have the love and assurance in your life that I have always longed for.
